A Nation at Risk: Edited by Yong Zhao

Every so often something crosses my desk that lights up the synapses in these tired old brain cells and stimulates action.  As we approach the 28th anniversary (Wow!  Time flies when you are running downhill!) of the publication of “A Nation at Risk” we can look forward to a rash of articles deploring the current state of education.  Of course research has shown that the report was in error in 1983, but I am not so sure that current education policy isn’t pushing us closer to the risk identified in the original report.  Yong Zhao, education scholar originally from China now working at the University of Oregon, has taken a fresh look at “A Nation at Risk,” and edited the document to meet current conditions.  We think it is one of the most important documents we have run across in recent months.  You can find the article here.

Take a look.  It is well worth the effort.
