A Better Way to Assess Students and Evaluate Schools

A common concern of parents, teachers and other citizens is that those who complain about the current trends in education policy and “reform” strategy do not have a research-based alternative to recommend.  This is simply not true.  Here is one example of a counter-proposal to the test-and-drill model that is at the center of corporatist school reform.  Monty Neill at FairTest has prepared a brief on better ways to assess student achievement and evaluate schools and can be found here.
